PROPOSAL FOR FINAL SHOW INSTALLATION

Mock Up for July Show
Two models are produced to scale based on standard MDF boards measuring 8 ft. by 4 ft.
The construction would be quite simple involving two structures. One would serve to support the knitted ‘substrate’ which functions as a screen for the projection of the video. The second one would be a support for the presentation of a ‘topological presence’. [garment-like three dimesional knitted structure]
This piece would have translucent panels inset into the sides of the ‘doorway’ space and strip lighting would be installed inside the structure, thus illuminating the knitted substrate [topological presence] which would be draped over a suspended Perspex support. This would serve to illuminate the piece and balance the projection of the video on the knitted substrate suspended in the other construction.
Maria has suggested that the presentation of a ‘topological presence’ would serve to expand [illuminate/explain] and enrich the significance of the video. She has also suggested furthermore that text might be a crucial element in the composition and another simple structure [without any voids] might be made thus resulting in the whole installation comprising of three separate units. The third unit would be a site for the projection of scrolling text, or just a simple projection of text addressing the various elements of the video.
